Amy’s enthusiasm for joining RAR’s board is fueled by her love of teaching and her understanding of the unlimited possibilities offered by an education that begins with instilling strong reading skills and a love for words. Amy holds teaching degrees in both Math and English, and after 28 years teaching full-time at RE-1 and RE-2 high schools, and 7 years as an adjunct Math teacher at CMC, she officially retired and is volunteering for many community organizations. Always an active volunteer, Amy started a meal program for underserved families through First Presbyterian Church that still continues today. Currently, she prepares and delivers meals for Feed My Sheep, and makes home care calls for senior assistance program A Little Help. Before Covid-19, Amy served as track coach for seven years for Mountain Valley Developmental Services’ Special Olympics team. Amy lives in Glenwood Springs with her husband when they are not traveling near and far having adventures in their new camper van.
