What are Mother Outreach Groups? 

• Moms meet while their child is in preschool to connect with other parents to learn and share ideas on how to best support their child during this critical period of brain growth and development. 

• These groups are facilitated by Raising A Reader staff, but the format is casual.  Discussions often lead to helpful hints and suggestions for read-aloud strategies, at-home learning activities, methods for engaging children verbally throughout the day, e.g. reading recipes while cooking, identifying words while grocery shopping, playing word games while driving and fun discussions during meals.

• Moms share frustrations and successes, and build a support network.
